Day 433: Progression

It's been a while, but I'm slowly making progress.

Task 15: Attend a film festival

So this one is kind of awkward. I attended the Sillicon Valley film festival this year and saw a movie called The Purple Onion. It was terribad. I use the word "terribad" to try and make light of a truly uncomfortable and unfortunate situation. I dragged a new friend to see this movie with me, thinking oh, a comedy, only to find a movie about a stalker who has an olfactory fetish who may or may not be involved in an incestuous relationship. Now, you're talking to a girl who watched a movie about a kidnapper and pedophile (Michael was the name of the film) in a film festival a few years ago and thought it was one of the best films she's ever seen. So no, I don't stray away from the taboo. But seriously? This film made no sense, for one, and for two, was just BAD. I feel bad saying it was so bad, as the people who made it obviously put time and effort into it, but come on now, bad. Bad bad bad bad bad. Bad.

Task 88: Keep a change jar and don't take from it for a year

I have a change jar (or rather, change tupperware) from February 3, 2013. I'll probably just keep adding to it.

I owe myself $20 for these tasks.

Day 373: Slowly, Ever So Slowly

...making progress!

Task 78: Attend a make up or hair show

I recently attended the LA 2014 IMATS! It was an incredible experience which left me feeling motivated and inspired. I spent a bit of money building my still-not-complete kit, but more importantly, I left feeling like this could be a thing for me. I'm now looking into going to make up school next year, should my plans to return to university life not pan out. It's good to have a back up that you're excited about, right?

Oh, and I saw Jeffree Star at the IMATS. Very fucking cool. Mind my language.......

What's next on the task list?

Task 15: Attend a film festival - I signed up to volunteer for a film festival here in Silicon Valley. We'll see if it pans out. Admittedly, not what I meant by "attend" by it still counts, and I hope to have enough time to at least see one movie!

That's all I have planned for now. There's lots of tasks I *could* complete, given the time, but I just don't have it right now with my CIDESCO program and college applications. Well, I do, I just don't want to do anything on my days off, if we're being honest.

Anyways, until next time!

Day 347: Viva

Task 9: Go to Las Vegas
Task 33: Watch a Cirque du Soleil show
Task 65: Visit an aquarium

COMPLETED! I went to Las Vegas for New Years with some of my girls. We had an amazing time. We saw shows (Cirque du Soleil's Ka, Clair Sinclair's Pin up, and Penn & Teller), we partied at the Venetian on New Year's Eve, and we gambled (and lost). It was an amazing time. I'd add some pics, but I took zero! It was about being in the moment. That said, the other ladies on the trip took pictures and I'm sure I'll have some to post when they throw theirs up on the internet.

I'm growing a little discouraged about my list. Some things aren't happening at the pace I'd like them to. I think I need to print out my list and hang it somewhere to remind myself that hey, I have goals that I need to achieve! I'm only 21% completed with my list. I need more results!

We'll work on it.

Completed from my original list:
Task 51: Touch a sting ray

Day 266: Working it Out

As promised, a post, post-birthday.

And for my birthday, we went to a corn maze, thereby completing another task!

Task 102: Go through a corn maze.

We, being my parents and I, drove up to Patterson, CA to a corn maze in the shape of Kaepernick. We cheated, but it was a great time, nonetheless.

Task 8: Take a yoga or pilates class.

I took a beginning yoga class at Breathe Yoga in Los Gatos, CA. It was very challenging. but I look forward to the next class.

I'm still working on my Halloween costume. I have to make my horns yet, but that is it.

I'm almost caught up on my $10 installments. I just need to add these two new ones to my savings.

Day 249: Rewarding

So I've completed a few tasks since last I posted.

Task 61: Start a food journal.

This task hasn't been very well accomplished, to be honest. I started a food journal, kept it up for about a week over my school break, then forgot about it. I think I'm going to make a more concentrated effort to follow through on this task by posting my eating habits in my day planner, that way, it's with me all the time and I have no excuse to forget. Never the less, I completed the goal, so I can't argue with that.

Task 63: Reward myself.

On Monday, I completed my esthetics state boards and passed! I'm now a licensed esthetician in the state of California! This is very exciting, as it means I can get a skilled job. I'm already sending out applications. To celebrate, I ordered myself some nail polishes, and signed up to take belly dancing classes (which will help me complete task 12). I also went out to dinner with my family.

Task 103: Make a kick-ass Halloween costume.

While on school break, I made my Halloween costume! Most of it I put together from things I already had, but I made the skirt, so it counts. I'm going to be Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, but a sexier version, of course. I still have to make the horns, but I won't be doing that until just before Halloween so they don't get damaged. Regardless, the costume is more-or-less made, and I will post a picture of the finished product come Halloween.

Upcoming tasks:

Task 8: Take a yoga or pilates class - I want to get my yoga instructor certification, so I'm going to try to do some more yoga in my free time.

Task 62: Take a belly dancing class - ON IT.

Task 12: Take a dance class - See task 62 and 63.

Task 102: Go through a cornmaze - I'm planning on going to a cornmaze for my birthday on the 12th. Yay!

My Vegas trip is also fast approaching, which will add a whole bunch of completed goals to this blog.

My next post should be sometime after my birthday. See you then!

Day 212: Losing

It's been a bit of time since my last post, but I haven't really been keeping up with my list lately. I just finished the esthetics portion of my schooling, and have been rather busy with that. I now have two weeks off to gather my thoughts and complete some of these items! I'm planning on working on my sketchbook, and making some stencils, so that will help my to-do list.

BUT, all is not lost. Some is though.

Task 44: Lose 10 pounds.

I did it! I lost 10 pounds! I don't know how, as I've been eating terribly lately, but I think part of it is I'm only eating when I'm hungry, so maybe that helps? Who knows. I'm just happy to see those numbers going down.

To follow up on my last post...

Task 37: Get dermal piercings.

I am now the proud owner of 4 dermal piercings on my chest. Very expensive, and not very painful.

I went to a spa expo yesterday, and now owe myself bunches of money for completing tasks as I borrowed my spa expo money from that fun. Oh well.

That's all for now. Expect an update soon!

Day 168: Modification

Coming up on Thursday: Body Modification!

I haven't entirely decided what I'll be getting. I was planning on getting nose piercings, but my parents have already expressed their extreme displeasure at the idea ("we'll stop supporting you" sort of stuff), so I have to come up with something else. My 101:1001 list offers up dermals and labia piercings; the former isn't a terrible idea, and the latter is a bit too personal for not having a piercer I know and trust. I want dermals down my back and on my ring finger, but I've been wanting surface piercings on my chest for quite some time, and that might win out.

I finished 5 books for fun! The last one was called "Night Life" by Caitlin Kittredge, which was quite enjoyable. All five books were, really, though most of them were dredge of the literary world. I can't give you all the titles simply because I didn't document them, though two were from the Gloriana St Claire series, one was an Argeneau novel, and the fourth remains a mystery.

I received my sketchbook, so I'm starting to brainstorm ideas. Unfortunately, there's no theme to go by for my journal, making it infinitely harder to come up with ideas. At least a theme gave a starting point to sprout off from. I might just do last year's theme in this year's sketchbook (Time Traveler). I had plenty of ideas for that; I just never had or found the time to sit down and do it. I'm currently looking into buying some new art supplies for my sketchbook. Mainly pencils, spray paints, and pastels.

That's all for now, I suspect. I plan to focus more on my list in the next coming months, especially once I get my short break from my esthetics program. I'm hoping to get some externing done, as well as helping out with a creative team project, so my break between CIDESCO and esthetics will be a nice size.
